Geotagging is looking to become a strong player in marketing. What is Geotagging, you ask? Here’s Wikipedia’s definition: “Geotagging is the process of adding geographical identification metadata to various media such as photographs, video, websites, or RSS feeds and is a form of geospatial metadata. These data usually consist of latitude and longitude coordinates, though they can also include altitude, bearing, accuracy data, and place names.” More commonly, you might be familiar with geotagging from popular apps like Foursquare or Gowalla. This year we had the distinct honor to award scholarships to two deserving and extraordinary recipients, Benjie Baclig and Shelcie Takenouchi. Shelcie is in Southern California, where she will attend USC to pursue a master of arts degree in strategic public relations. Benjie just graduated as the valedictorian from Waimea High School on Kaua’i’s Westside so we were able to take him and his family to breakfast to meet him and learn what fired his ambition to be great.
