We have talked often both publicly and privately about the importance of being willing to evolve in business, to grow and make changes, even if it might be scary to do so. “Take it step by step,” we tell ourselves, in an effort to move forward with courage. The effect of saying these things actually manifested something significant in our own experience because just a few months ago, we were offered a radio show on The VoiceAmerica Talk Radio Network (www.voiceamerica.com), the world leader in live Internet talk radio. Now it’s our time to walk our talk.
Doing a radio show on an internet talk radio network that gets three million unique visitors every week from all over the world is as terrifying as it is exhilarating. And having to raise the funds to support the show is equally so. That said, we’ve prepared for this kind of evolution since we started our business nine years ago. Over the years, many national and international businesses have come to us to help them successfully enter the Kauai and Hawaii market. Often, we would find ourselves forgoing the traditional PR work of media and promotions to coach our clients on local customs, traditions, and values. Our new radio show is an extension of this work.
About the show we’ll be hosting: it’s called “From Hawaii With Love” and debuts on Thursday, September 17 at 12 noon HST (check our website at www.fmpr.net for the link). It will air at the same time each week and feature some of Hawaii’s greatest success stories and our friends and family, (so watch out because we might be calling you). “From Hawaii With Love” focuses on Hawai’i's unique way of life and how listeners can take Hawaii’s customs and traditions home to their families and communities. You and we know that Hawai’i is a very special place with a lot to teach the world. “From Hawaii With Love” will do just that.
That’s all to say that if we can do it, you can do it. In today’s challenging economy, businesses need to do all they can to stay ahead of the game and compete. Be open and commit to evolution in your own business and life, and new opportunities that you may never have considered will come to you. When they do, say “yes” if it feels right, and maximize all of the PR angles you can.
